Sizing and fit
How do I choose the right size?
Measure around the widest part of your dog's chest, just behind the front legs, with a soft tape measure. Match that number to the size guide on the product page. If your dog falls between two sizes, choose the larger one.
How do I put the harness on?
- Hold the harness open with the name patches on the outside.
- Slip it gently over your dog's head.
- Bring the belly strap around and click the buckle closed.
- Adjust the straps until the fit is snug, then do the two-finger check below.
No lifting paws, no threading legs. Most dogs are ready to go in seconds.
How tight should it be?
You should be able to slide two fingers flat between the harness and your dog's body. Looser than that and your dog may be able to back out of it; tighter and it can rub. Check the fit again after the first few walks, as straps can settle.
What if I ordered the wrong size?
No problem. Within 90 days of delivery we'll exchange it for the right size or refund you. See our Refund & Warranty Policy.
Using the harness
Does a no-pull harness really stop pulling?
It helps a lot. When you clip the leash to the front ring on the chest, a forward lunge turns your dog gently back toward you instead of letting them pull straight ahead, with no pressure on the throat. It's a training aid, so pairing it with consistent, reward-based training gives the best results.
Should I use the front ring or the back ring?
Use the front ring for dogs that pull, lunge or are still learning leash manners. Use the back ring for relaxed walks once your dog walks calmly beside you.
Can I use my own leash?
Yes. Any standard leash with a clip works with both leash rings.
What is the handle for?
The top handle gives you quick, close control at street crossings, in crowds, at the vet, or when helping your dog into the car or over obstacles.
Can my dog wear it all day?
We recommend using it for walks, training and outings, then taking it off at home so your dog can rest comfortably. Long wear can cause rubbing or matting, especially on long-haired breeds.
Can I use it in the car?
The handle and rings make it easy to clip your dog to a car restraint, but a harness on its own is not a crash-tested car safety device. For travel, use a restraint or crate designed for vehicles.
Personalization
What can I put on the patches?
Your dog's name (up to 12 characters) and a phone number. We print exactly what you type, so please double-check spelling and digits before checkout.
Is the personalization durable?
Yes. It's made to handle daily walks, rain and regular hand washing.
Can I change the name after ordering?
Email us within a few hours of ordering and we'll do our best. Once your harness goes into production, the text can't be changed.
Care
How do I wash it?
Hand wash in cool water with a mild soap, rinse well and air dry. Avoid the washing machine and dryer, as heat can damage the webbing, padding and reflective trim.
Is it OK in the rain?
Yes, it's fine for wet-weather walks. Let it air dry fully afterwards.
Orders and shipping
How long does delivery take?
Allow 1 to 2 business days for your harness to be made, then most orders arrive within 4 to 12 days. Full details are in our Shipping Policy.
How much is shipping?
Free on US orders over $55. Under that, the cost is shown at checkout.
How do I track my order?
We email a tracking number as soon as your order ships. Use it on our Track Your Order page. If you can't find the email, check your spam or promotions folder.
My tracking hasn't updated. Is that normal?
Yes. It can take 24 to 72 hours for the first scan to appear, and some legs of the journey go quiet for a few days. If nothing has changed for 7 days, email us and we'll chase it.
My package says delivered but I don't have it.
Check around your property, with neighbors and household members, and with your local post office. If it still hasn't turned up, email us with your order number and we'll help.
Can I change my shipping address?
Email us right away. We can usually update it before the order ships, but not once it's with the carrier.
Returns and warranty
What is your return policy?
You have 90 days from delivery to ask for a refund or exchange, for any reason.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. Every Petioz harness has a lifetime warranty against defects in stitching and hardware. Read the details in our Refund & Warranty Policy.
